STORY OUTLINE
After attending riggers school for a month in England, William joined the Flying Corps at Waddington for four months until hospitalised.
He served in France from September 1917 until hospitalised again in December with nephritis.
He returned to Australia and was discharged April 1918.
He stated on enlistment that he was 33, but his medical form says 49.
He returned on a 'hospital carrier' and his form was stamped Hammock.
In 1930 he wrote from New York, asking for his medals.
