STORY OUTLINE
Charles Archibald Hamilton Slater embarked at Sydney on 9/05/1917 on HMAT "Port Sydney" A15 and disembarked at Suez on 20/06/1917, then proceeded to El Fara Palestine on 19/09/1917 where he was transferred to the 4th Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron and perhaps took part in the Battle of Beersheba in October 1917.
Hospitalised with malaria between February and June of 1918 he was posted to Moascar Cairo Egypt in July 1918.
After further training he was sent to Deir el Belah near Gaza but was back in hospital by February where he would remain until 16/06/1918 when he was sent back to Cairo hospitals until he embarked for Australia at Kantara Egypt on 22/7/1919 on S.S. "Morvada" arriving Melbourne 28/8/1919 and was discharged a month later.
