OTHER INFORMATION

The Douglas Shire Honour Board shows Sibley, G C in the 'Soldiers Who Fell' section.

We have found no record of G C Sibley on National Archives or the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site.

Yet we know there was a G C Sibley in Mossman during the war time. He married Miss Falconer in August 1914 and he worked for Douglas Shire until he resigned in 1916.

A G C Sibley wrote to the Douglas Shire in 1919 regarding creek water quality.

A G C Sibley was buried in Port Douglas Cemetery in October 1924. This puzzle eluded us until we found that the G C Sibley mentioned here had earlier became step-father to Fraser Harold George Cudday, who became known as George Sibley. Cudday was schooled in Douglas district. During the war he enlisted under his correct name, served overseas and was killed in action. While Cudday missed a posting on the Honour Board, it appears that his alter-ego George Sibley is there in the Soldiers Who Fell section. We have a separate listing for Fraser Harold George Cudday.
