STORY OUTLINE

Thomas Lynch Pringle was born in Port Douglas and became an accountant.

He enlisted in December 1914, embarked 8 April 1915 on the 'Star of England' and entered the war at Gallipoli on 6 June 1915.

He was transferred to Mudros in November for rest and rejoined the unit on 27 December. He was then involved in various actions with the 2nd Light Horse in Suez, and Palestine.

He was Mentioned in Despatches in 1916 and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1919,

'For consistent good work and devotion to duty, particularly during the Jericho, Amman and Es Salt Operations'.

He embarked from Egypt for Australia in March 1919 and arrived on 11 May 1919.
