STORY OUTLINE

Thomas Murphy, originally from Herberton, enlisted at Townsville in February 1916, though address at the time was Mossman. He embarked on the Moolton in August 1916 and marched into Moascar with the 11th Light Horse in September.

He was soon in hospital with sickness and then in December 1917, seriously so, requiring months in rest camp before return to Australia.
