STORY OUTLINE

John Samuel Niau was born in Port Douglas but by the time of war, he was a farmer at Liverpool, NSW.

He enlisted in March 1915, Initially assigned to the 7th Light Horse, he was re-assigned to the 12th Light Horse in February 1916 in the Middle East. His service was interrupted by visits to hospital through 1916 and 1917 and then terminated when killed in action on 30 April 1918.
