STORY OUTLINE
Joseph Morris was brought up at Emu Park (Rockhampton) but was working (labourer) in the north when war came and he enlisted at Townsville in December 1915.
Perhaps this was on way back to Rockhampton after completing another cane cutting season on a Mossman property - for he is listed on the Douglas Shire Honour Board.
He entered France in April 1917 as a Driver with the 9th Field Artillery. After a period of illness for much of 1918, he returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged in July.
A note on his record indicates that he died in 1956.
