STORY OUTLINE
Malcolm McQueen was born Townsville and enlisted at Townsville, 19-02-16. The only link we can identify with the Shire is his address given on the Nominal Roll, so it appears that he was working within the Shire. He was assigned to the Australian Army Dental Corps within the 9th Battalion. and sent to the Western Front. During 1917 he suffered from trench feet and other ailments requiring hospitalisation.
He embarked for Australia on 16 January 1919 on the Demosthenes and was discharged on 16th April 1919.
Malcolm died on 29 October 1919 and is buried at the Samuel Dansie Park Pioneer Cemetery, Atherton.
