STORY OUTLINE

Arther Gerald Lund (a.k.a. Arthur) needed parental consent to enlist being under 21 years of age.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT "Port Sydney" and arrived in Basrah India in June 1917 (the then Mesopotamian Theatre - now Iraq). Serving for almost a year there, he was granted leave in May of 1918 to India for five months before returning to Basrah for another three months.

In February of 1919 he commenced his return to Australia via Bombay and embarked at Calcutta aboard the HT "Janus" on the 21st March 1918 for Melbourne where he arrived in April enroute to Brisbane where he was discharged a little over a month later.
