STORY OUTLINE

Trooper William Kidd of the 10th Light Horse was born in Mowbray but moved to Western Australia with his brother Harry, where he enlisted in September 1914, aged almost 28. He was a Teamster. On September 16, 1915 he embarked from Alexandria for Gallipoli and a gunshot wound to his right heel 13 days later had him shipped out to hospital in Malta.

Two months later he was charged with being drunk in All Saints Hospital, Malta at 10pm and fined ten shillings.

The following September he was admitted to hospital in Eastleigh, UK, and in May 1916 he was invalided to Australia, where he was discharged on 30 August 1916..
