STORY OUTLINE

Herbert Owen Jones was brought up at 'The Cedars', Mossman, a member of the pioneering Jones family.

He enlisted 5/01/1917 aged 23 years.

He embarked in Sydney 9/05/1917, arriving Suez 20/06/1917 then marched in to Isolation Camp Egypt.

He was appointed photographer and then at the end of the war (29/12/1918) remustered to be Air Mechanic 1st Class .

He finally embarked from Kuntapa Egypt per the 'Port Sydney" for Australia on the 04/03/1919.

He was discharged 24/05/1919.
