STORY OUTLINE
Thomas Henry Jackson embarked on the HMAT Star of Victoria at Brisbane on 30-03-1916 and on arrival at Alexandria Egypt he re-embarked on 3-05-1916 with the British Expeditionary Forces and was with his unit in Etaples France on the 31-07-1916.
Four months later on 27-11-1916 he was admitted to the Field Ambulance Station. Two weeks later he was invalided to England with chronic bronchitis and admitted to the Beaufort War Hospital in Bristol.
He died on 6-01-1917 of internal haemorrhage and was buried at the Arno's Vale Cemetery Bristol in the Soldiers' Corner.
Mr R E Bush, Commandant of the Bishops Knoll Hospital in Bristol and his Staff annually visited the Soldiers' Corner graves with a report to the Australian Defence authorities on the Anniversary of Anzac Day.
This was initiated in 1918 by the London Branch of the Australian Natives Association. [Thomas Jackson's War Service File contains these photographs which include his grave (this is one of the few files to still contain such items since there was no known next-of-kin to forward them to)].
