STORY OUTLINE
Robert Fenwick was born in Port Douglas, gained employment as a blacksmith - probably in Mareeba - and enlisted at Cairns in February 1916 at age 27.
He embarked from Australia on the Demosthenes in December 1916 and served in France with the 26th Battalion.
He returned to Australia in July 1919.
