STORY OUTLINE

Stephen Fagg, originally from Maryborough, became a horsebreaker in the Mossman district. He enlisted in January 1915 and embarked from Brisbane on the HMAS Melbourne in June 1915.

He was assigned to the 17th AASC (Australian Army Service Corps) in the unallotted Light Horse as a Driver. He was hospitalised in May 2016 with Pulmonary Tuberculosis.

A year later, 28-06-1917, he was discharged from the Army. The hardships encountered at the war had an adverse effect on his constitution.

A respected invalid pensioner at Mossman, he died in the Port Douglas Hospital on 22 February 1929.
