STORY OUTLINE
Cecil Evans was a 25 year old farrier, born in Port Lincoln, South Australia, who enlisted in Adelaide in October 1916. He joined the 9th Light Horse in Egypt and although not wounded, spent time in various hospitals with illnesses. He returned to Australia on 17th August 1918 and was discharged on 14 October 1918.
We have not found another soldier with this name but it is unclear how he came to be included on the Douglas Shire Honour Board. A Thomas Alexander Evans of Mossman is described separately.
