STORY OUTLINE

Richard Elwothy is not on the Honour Board but his name appears amongst a group of Diggers welcomed home by the Mossman Welcome Home Club in September 1919 - guests included George Stamp, Corporal Mick Slater DSO, Arthur Osborne, J Norris, R Elworthy and Jack Cox.

Richard Elworthy was born in Devonshire England and enlisted in Cairns in January 1917 as a farmhand with Mossman address. He left Australia in February 1917 on the Wiltshire to serve in France with the 41st Battalion. He survived and returned to Australia in March 1919.
