STORY OUTLINE
Born in Inglewood, Queensland but enlisting at Port Douglas in May 1915, labourer Thomas Bonner embarked at Brisbane on H.M.A.T Kyarra with the 5th Light Horse headed for Gallipoli. After Gallipoli there was a re-grouping time at Alexandria and then he continued with the 5th Light Horse in the Middle East, cut short by sickness and hospital time from September 1917 until his early return to Australia in March 1918 aboard the Tofua. On arrival he was sent to 6th Australia General Hospital Brisbane. Private Bonner was discharged on the 19th March 1918.
