STORY OUTLINE

Louis Arntzen, born in Copenhagen, conversant in five languages, a naturalised British subject, ran a cane farm at Mossman with brother Andrew. He enlisted on 30th October 1914 and departed Australia on the A34 'Persic' in December 1914 with the 5th Light Horse Regiment. He was briefly hospitalised with influenza in February 1915, appointed Lance Corporal in March and then participated in the fighting at Gallipoli. On 28th June he was killed in action and buried on Harris Ridge, Anzac Cove, Gallipoli.
