STORY OUTLINE
Born in Port Douglas, William Arundell was a 24 year old stockman when he enlisted at Townsville in September 1915. He embarked for the Middle East aboard the 'Suffolk' and joined the 15th Battalion on 6 March 1916. He was later moved to the 47th Battalion and entered the war in France. He was awarded the Military Medal on 28 August 1917. He transferred to the 46th Battalion in May 1918, had leave from 15th August to 2nd September, but not long after he was killed, with gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He was buried at the Le Chapellete Cemetery Peronne, Australian Section.
