STORY OUTLINE
Private Andrew Ramsay embarked on 19/5/1916 from Sydney, NSW on HMAT Demosthenes A64 and disembarked on 20/7/1916 at Greymouth England.
He proceeded to France on 29/11/1916 and within three months was admitted to hospital in the field, then from the large tented hospital at Boulonge to England with bronchitis and myalgia (muscle pain).
In August 1917, whilst in a convalescent depot in Weymouth, Dorset, England he was considered unfit with a decision to repatriate him for Home Service due to myalgia and age considerations.
Ramsay returned to Australia on NZHT Pakeha 82 from London on 28/8/1917 and disembarked 24/10/1917.
He was discharged 27/11/1917.
Ramsay's link to Douglas Shire appears to be post war - he was paid a pension in Mossman and married in Mossman in August 1919.
