STORY OUTLINE
John Langtree was born in Port Douglas but by the time of his enlistment, February 1916 , he was a blacksmith at Rockhampton. Appointed to the 47th Battalion, he spent time in England both in training and hospital before proceeding to France in April 1917.
On 29 January 1918, his mother, Mrs K Langtree, living at Edmonton, received notification that Lance Corporal Langtree was wounded.
In April 1918 he was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the 46th Battalion.
After the war John Langtree returned to Australia and was discharged in October 1919.
