STORY OUTLINE
The E Denslow reported here lacks specific evidence of link to Douglas district (and also has slightly different spelling from the Honour Board where it is Denslowe). However, with enlistment at Cairns, he seems the most likely soldier to have earned a place on the Douglas Shire Honour Board. Edward Denslow was a labourer aged 27, born in England, who enlisted in Cairns on 23 January 1915, aged 27. He joined the 15th Battalion on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 2nd June 1915 and on 15th August he was listed as 'missing'. A court of enquiry in April 1916 listed him as killed in action, 8th August 1915. If you can confirm that this is the E Denslowe of the Honour Board, or can lead us elsewhere, please contact us.
