STORY OUTLINE

Private George Herbert Coultas, an English immigrant working in Douglas Shire enlisted in March 1915 and embarked Brisbane per H.M.A.T. A63 'Karoola' on the 26th June 1915. He was wounded in action in France on the 10/05/1916 with gunshot to his left elbow. On the 25/09/1916 he was killed in action "in the field" and was buried at Dickebauch New Military Cemetery, 3 & a half miles S.W. of Ypres. His name is on the Memorial Scroll, Memorial Plaque, "Where the Australians Rest" & War records. On the Douglas Shire Honour Board, he is listed amongst soldiers who returned. He should be with the Soldiers who Fell.
