STORY OUTLINE
George Kenneth Alley was born at Mossman and enlisted in Cairns in November 1916, occupation labourer. He was assigned to the 52nd Battalion and fought on the Western Front. He returned to Australia in December 1918 and was discharged in April 1919. It is likely the George's father, George Gorham Alley, became a cane farmer in Gordonvale, the Alley family is well-known there.
