STORY OUTLINE
Charles Stewart was born in Port Douglas and worked the family farm at Spring Creek, Mowbray.
He enlisted in April 1916 and embarked from Brisbane 7 September 1916 for England.
He fought in France and Belgium but was killed in action on 28 August 1918.
He was buried near Parleux, France but in 1920 his remains were exhumed and re-interred in the Ennemain Communal Cemetery Extension near Peronne.
His mother was sent his war medals, Memorial Plaque, Memorial Scroll and King's Message.
