STORY OUTLINE
Nurse Louisa Sarah Parnell embarked from Sydney on 21/08/1915 on RMS Morea together with other medical personnel.
It seems she may have enlisted beforehand in July 1915 from Longreach, QLD but her attestation papers show she officially enlisted for war service at Heliopolis, Egypt on 24/03/1916 where she was taken on strength, first with the 3rd A.G.H., and then at the 14th General Hospital at Abbassia, Cairo Egypt.
On 11/12/1916 Louisa was transferred to the Hospital Ship, Valdiva, for passage overseas and sent to the Royal Victoria Hospital at Netley, Hampshire, England.
After posting to several military hospitals in England she was posted to 1st A.G.H. at Rouen, France on 13/07/1918.
In January 1919, Louisa was transferred back to England to A.I.F. Headquarters in London.
She returned to Australia on 20/02/1919 on SS Orsova and discharged on 28/04/1919.
On 23/10/1919 she and Major William Francis Joseph Koch, injured at Gallipoli with the 11th Light Horse Regiment, and who remained in Egypt for the duration of the war, were married in Brisbane, Qld.
