STORY OUTLINE

Arthur Sydney Hardwick, eldest of three brothers who went to war, enlisted at Brisbane and served with the 13th Machine Gun Company, attached to the 1st Light Horse.

This contingent was part of the famed Light Horse Brigade attack on Beersheeba. The Hardwick brothers had cane farming interests in the Mowbray district and later took up a cane farm at Edmonton.
